Guest guest
Hi Pam, > Hey Butch -thanks for the info - I'm in the middle of trying to determine > if I will vaccinate for WNV for my horses again this year.....there was so > much controversy about it last year (deformed foals ect) and now Fort Dodge > has been cited by the FDA for sloppy precautions ect....that again... I don't > know....and then of course its the monopoly thing too.......not to mention how > MANY people I know whose horses actually GOT THE DISEASE after getting the shots! > .......mmmmmmmmm Welcome fer'shur. I've done some amateur research on viral infections. I knew little to nothing about them .. probably most of the folks on this list are more informed in that regard than I was. What I think I have learned is common knowledge to those in the field .. and to make it short and sweet, folks and critters who are exposed to viral or other critters and survive that exposure develop antibodies that protect them to a great degree in the future .. and as long as they can keep their immune system humming like a Swiss watch they can skate through the next activation of the viral critter. But those who have borderline immune systems to begin with are at usually at risk when they are injected with antibodies and it might be better if they just depended on luck. Of course, there are exceptions to the above .. AIDS and Ebolla and a few others where zillions of bucks are being spent to determine the functions of the proteins .. they don't really fit the character of those discussed above .. West Nile and the like. Amazing it is that with AIDS its almost 100% certain that the victim will not be doing so well after ten years or so .. with Ebolla its certain that around 80% of those exposed will not survive past ten days .. and a mystery to science why approximately 20% of those infected survive and continue to lead productive lives. I salute those scientists who are looking for the secrets of defeating viruses .. they are generally dedicated folks. > Blessings, > Pam > E Web Express - Web Design & Hosting > http://www.ewebexpress.com > TLC Naturally - Essential Oils & Home Made Goodies > http://www.tlcnaturally.com And to you .. keep smiling. :-) Butch
