Guest guest
And just to clarify for the _herbal_ use, it helps to support progesterone levels over estrogen- in fact may help with estrogen dominance conditions. It does this by increasing LH and inhibiting FSH. Many well done clinical studies in Europe support its safety and effectiveness. Just wanted to speak to this, as you COULD interpret that last line in Butch's email to say that ingestion of the _herb_ wasnt recommended (since he was talking about both in the earlier part of the email). Far from it. But estrogenic? Nope. Still, in menopause, progesterone falls more rapidly and completely than estrogens, production of which are taken over by adrenals and fat cells when ovarian production falls. So dont just focus on estrogen. julie In a message dated 5/12/2004 3:24:59 AM Pacific Standard Time, butchbsi writes: > I have a question about Vitex.... does anyone know if it is a (or > contains) phyto-estrogen. The answer is NO .. it does NOT .. this statement applies to the oil and to the plant. And it does NOT stimulate production of estrogen .. Research has been conducted (four studies that I know of) and its still considered to be in the so-called " experimental " stage .. we can count on it continuing to be experimental until we're all under snakes simply because its too inexpensive, too natural, and can't be patented. Same scenario applies to most natural plants/oils. Those who have studied the effects of Vitex agnus castus (except for a couple of medical doctors) do NOT recommend ingestion .. without talking to the medicos first .. this is a necessary cover the butt statement. Inhalation works for most folks .. for some its immediate .. for others it takes a while .. for some others it does not work and they dislike the effects.
