Guest guest
Can anyone point me to a colored photo of Wormwood in it's natural state? The article says it grows wild in the US, and as I live in zone 10, it might grow around here. Hubby gets a maleria attack every few years (Viet Nam vet), and although I keep quinine handy for just that purpose, it sure would be nice to go pick/cut some and have it in the freezer to boil up in a tea or something. Procedure on this, would be helpful too. TIA Anita

Wormwood doesn't do well in high humidity, like here in Florida. Also be aware the herb -does not work - for malaria. You need the isolated compound cited in the article, artemisinin. artemisinin The pills (or is it a powder? I think it's pills) need to be taken for a prescribed period of time, perhaps a week. Check out the article, write the author, and see if it's available in the US. It might only be available overseas at this time. I sometimes buy drugs without a prescription via overseas pharmacies (simple stuff, like skin stuff.) You might do a search using artemisinin no prescription and see if you get some hits. http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady

Whoops -- forgot to provide the link. http://tinyurl.com/35yx4 Also, to correct the following statement I made: >I sometimes buy drugs without a prescription via overseas pharmacies >(simple stuff, like skin stuff.) Guest guest
Anita, You don't want to self treat yourself with wormwood. I contains phytochemicals ( absynthium) that are not good for the brain.., I am sure that when they make the drug they take that component out. A little leaf rubbed between the hands for bug repellent is going to be Ok, but home made infusions, well you better know what you are doing... Guest guest
Well, that leaves me out, the high humidity that is, I live in the Houston, TX vacinity. Will just have to look for the artemisinin. Thanks for the reply. Anita in TX In the meantime, are you in Zone 10 California, or, if not, where? Wormwood doesn't do well in high humidity, like here in Florida.
