Are you in Canada? Or England? Or the USA? Do you have any plans to expand your company into any of the areas you don't currently do business in? That would be my first question. >I'm thinking of trade marking the name, but would have to do that in Britian, Canada and USA ( to get the name changed). Looking at about $1500 to so all three. Again, I think my first response is correct. Unless you are planning on expanding into the other two markets, why bother? >I have joined this group , but haven't introduced myself yet, LOL... >Waiting to calm down first, and explore my options. Good idea to lurk. That group owner probably has no idea of the potential 'conflict'. >I have owned the company name here in canada for 2 years now, and the domain name.com for about a year and a half. Oh, now I see you are in Canada. Well, the domain name part is good, but I am not sure how the company name TM works in Canada. You'll need to contact a lawyer about that. >This busy little group, has been around only since april of this year, and has 500 members so far. My girlfriend tells me to use it as a marketing tool, to advertise my site and my company.. Oh, no, I wouldn't just yet. Just lurk. >Suggestions from the group would be most appreciated here, as I am pretty ticked, especially when I am getting a lot of emails with my company name on them. Pass the vallium please. Now, Carol, this is an herbs group, so reach for the kava kava instead :-) Stay calm until you get some legal advice. Here in the states you can call the US Patents and Trademarks office and get some advice, don't know how it works in Canada. I'm wondering if you should still call the US or visit their website in the meantime: http://www.uspto.gov/ when I've dealt with them in the past, I've found them to be very helpful (phone calls). It might be too pricey to phone them from Canada unless you have a calling plan, so try emailing first.
