Not really .. leastwise not according to what I am aware of .. though I

have heard many folks say this. Acetylsalicylic acid is the active

ingredient in Aspirin .. and Methyl salicylate is the active ingredient

in Wintergreen and Sweet Birch .. actually, they are almost the entire oil.

Yep .. difference is that the liver can process Acetylsalicylic acid in

an effective manner .. not so for Methyl salicylate .. it builds up and

then each successive dose is merely concentrating that which is already

there .. to a point of toxicity.

Right .. and when you take it while drinking beer you get a cheap drunk.

Which ain't all that bad I reckon .. sorta like having a cross twixt a

horse and a rattlesnake .. when he bites you, you can ride him to the

doctor. ;-)
