Guest guest
Hi everyone. I had to jump in on this conversation. My son was not circumcised at birth. My husband and I thought long and hard on this subject before we made the decision. Around his 1st birthday, as I was changing his diaper, I noticed the tip of his penis begin to fill up with urine. Yes, it literally filled up like a balloon, much to the boy's obvious pleasure, and exited the opening normally with in a few seconds. I thought this odd and mentioned it to my husband. Being a circumcised man, he had no clue.Well, we never got to witness the filling up again, so just let it go. A few weeks later he spiked a fever and after a visit to the pediatrician, who collected a urine sample, after I told her about the ballooning incident, told us he had an infection. We brought him to a pediatric urologist, just to get a specialist's opinion and upon taking one look at my son's penis, asked us why he wasn't circumcised. Mind you, he wasn't being judgemental. He made it a point to tell us that he was a) Jewish b) a urologist and c) has 2 sons who are not circumcised. He said that my son's foreskin was too tight and the doctor in the hospital should have picked up on it before he was discharged. He highly recommended he be circumsised. We had the surgery scheduled and had it done. He never got another infection and is now 5 years old. If I were to have another son, I still would not have him circumcised, but I would INSIST that a urologist check his foreskin for a normal sized opening to allow urine to exit properly.
