Guest guest
Anne, You said......... In the end, it is the practitioner and patient relationship, the skills of the practioner, and the willingness to change on the part of the patient, that will bring about lasting healing. We are all drawn to the people that are helping us along our path of healing on all levels. So true! I think we are drawn to study a particular way because of who each of us is as an individual, and we are likely to then draw to us the patients who need what we, in particular, have to offer. In my TCM school, I observed great differences in the diagnostic and needling styles of different teachers. Sometimes, three of them would feel the same pulse and have three different impressions of it. Yet they all had great results. What this taught me was to try out everything offered to me, and then to find the styles/paradigms/methods that I felt most in sync with. There is a certain chemistry that must be honored, a chemistry between practitioner and method, between practitioner and patient. To say there is only one way is akin to saying there should only be one religion, one political party, one anything. Kind of silly when you think about it. Even as we go deeper into what calls us, let us also honor the myriad ways of healing on this planet. As Margot Adler once wisely said, in speaking of religion, " One-crop economies always fail, and a healthy meadow, a healthy forest, always has multiple species living interdependently. " I think that applies to our discussion, as well. Peace to all, Liz
