Guest guest
Under HIPAA regs, US health care providers who engage in standard electronic transactions (such as health insurance claims) must obtain and use a National Provider Identifier (NPI) by May 23, 2007. The use of this identifier will soon become as ubiquitous as social security numbers and employer identification numbers. Even if you aren't a HIPAA-covered entity, you will soon find it necessary in the course of your transactions with other providers and with payers. I've posted information (in pdf format) on how to obtain an NPI at: http://www.convergentmedical.com/newsdesk.html Best Regards, David Kailin, Ph.D., M.P.H., L.Ac.
