My memory is that with SB840, ca. 1989 or so, and the inclusion if acupuncture into Worker's Comp, all insurance that dealt with WC was compelled to deal also with acupuncture. And so they got used to the idea. Now they may or may not cover it in non-WC policies. If so, it's extra, a " rider " policy, often from a 3rd party speciality insurance company (e.g. Landmark, or ASPH...). BTW, lately it's more and more covered, but their being more picky -- accepting, in some cases only Tx of conditions with " evidence-based " proof. Even Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, which used to routinely pay ca. $25 per visit (upto a yearly limit), not s/t sends me letters asking for complete documentation, notes, etc. -- Version: 7.5.467 / Virus Database: 269.7.1/805 - Release 5/15/2007 10:47 AM
