Dear members

I wondered if you would be able to help my mum please. She has been taking a

drug to help reduce cholesterol, it is called Sinvastin. Since taking this

she has gradually experienced pain and discomfort primarily in her hands and

shoulders but now she feels like the problem is traveling down her body. At

first the doctor advised her to come off Sinvastin and during those two

weeks she definately felt some light relief but he then told her to continue

taking it but every other day instead of every day. Consequently, what was a

very active 70 year old is now having a job to get in and out of cars and

has had to stop doing her much loved gardening.

I love my mum so much as she is a perfect person, she is kind and

considerate to all she meets and she is my best friend. If you have an

answer to this problem i would all be so grateful as my mum hates being

poorly and she is getting frustrated by being inactive and she also feels

like a burden.

Thank you

Angie,

Sinvastin is a statin, and statins deplete the body of CoQ10. Make sure that

she takes supplementary CoQ10 to compensate for the deficiency created. Also

please consider seeing an experienced practitioner in Chinese medicine, as TCM

is able to also affect elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. If you need a

referral, ask the group and let us know where your mother lives.

Good luck,

Yehuda

Angela,

Muscle and joint pain is a common side effect of medications that reduce

cholesterol. There are other alternatives. You can check into Health Concerns'

formulas and see which would be most suitable for your mother.

Blessings,

Check into multiple vendors, e.g. also Kan herbs, who have less

questionable policies (e.g. selling to discount OTC retail chains

that undercut local practitioners.)

Otherwise this is specific vendor promotion, which I understand to be

a no-no in this forum.

I personally don't mind hearing about vendors. Maybe mentioning that other

companies also have good herbs would be okay.

Hi Angie,

I'm not very fond of statines. You can read a lot of articles on the net.

http://www.fonteine.com/statines2.html is a dutch site, but if you scroll down

you'll find some English texts, that will hopefully help you form an opinion.

The main question is: does your mother really need that medicine?

Lots of health!
