There are two uses for electro and herbs, one is called iontophoreses, the other

is electrophoreses. Iontophoreses works by polarity, by stimulating a repelling

type of -/- or +/+ motion like magnets, so you have to know the polarity of the

substance you are working with. Electrophoreses works by shocking the cells

receptors and making them temporarily more permeable, and it is not polarity

dependent. Fortunately they will happen at the same time in any case, so chances

are any electrostim to move herbs will increase permeability to some extent.

Other factors which IMO would increase permeability more would include heat and

moisture, especially in combination over a fair length of time. Heat draws blood

to the area and dilates blood vessels and opens pores, moisture disrupts the

oily surface layer of the skin and expands keritenized " dead " skin cells, making

them spongier and more porous. Sealing the area with plastic wrap for several

hours seems to work best, but it has to breath once and a while, so I don't

usually have people leave things over night.

I have used a pad type stimulator that I think came with a little TENS box I got

for free, and clipped that to the - lead then had the other + go to a distal

point with a needle.
