Guest guest
Hi evrybody i have one paitient, she is a 77 year old woman, very healthy and doing intense yoga evry day. she is suffering from pain in the knuckle of the 4th finger, next to the acu point HEART-8. there is no heat\cold sensation in the area and no swelling, and no deformity as well i treat here with acupuncture but i want to had herbal formula as well. my friend told me that internal herbal medicine are less good in situations of pain in the fingers unless there is weakness of internal organs that can be connected to the pain in the finger and it will be better to use herbs on external way what do you think? regards avishay
Guest guest
Hi Avishay, A couple of thought come to mind: first: what is her pattern and differential diagnosis. Obviously, not being there it is impossible to ascertain patterns, but the first thing that comes to mind in the case of all post-menopausal women, is blood xu leading to blood stasis, especially since there are no heat or cold signs. Second, the " Dui Yao " (pair herbs) Sang Zhi and Gui Zhi are very effective for finger and arm pain. Interestingly, you'll notice that they are twigs, look like fingers and complements each other beautifully. Sang Zhi is acrid and cold, and Gui Zhi is acrid and warm. Finally, (and again I hate to suggest medicines based on just symptoms, but) there is a ready made formula in pill form which I have used quite effectively for pain and wind damp symptoms in the upper extremities including fingers: Feng Shi Xiao Tong Wan (translation: wind damp lessen pain pill). Hatzlacha and hope I've been helpful, Yehuda avishay_yamin <avishay_yamin wrote: Hi evrybody i have one paitient, she is a 77 year old woman, very healthy and doing intense yoga evry day. she is suffering from pain in the knuckle of the 4th finger, next to the acu point HEART-8. there is no heat\cold sensation in the area and no swelling, and no deformity as well i treat here with acupuncture but i want to had herbal formula as well. my friend told me that internal herbal medicine are less good in situations of pain in the fingers unless there is weakness of internal organs that can be connected to the pain in the finger and it will be better to use herbs on external way what do you think? regards avishay http://traditionaljewishmedicine.com/ Never miss an email again! Guest guest
Hi Avishay, I think the key is realizing that medicine can't be compartmentalized: The body needs to be nourished, connected and balanced bioenergetically (via acupuncture), biomechanically or biostructurally (via tuina or other body work) and biochemically or bionutritionally via (herbs and foods). Treating with just one modality limits the body's healing ability. From my experience, there is no question that the modalities exponentially (I've heard it even said algorithmically) speed and sustain healing. Furthermore, even if there is no evidence of blood stasis (purple tongue, choppy pulse) at that age I can't believe that there isn't some degree of blood xu and for that matter yin xu, especially with a female. Gently nourish while moving the blood, using the Dui Yao I mentioned and I'll bet you'll both be pleasantly surprised, BE'H. All the best, Yehuda avishay_yamin <avishay_yamin wrote: Hello Yehuda and thanks for answering there is no other simptoms, she is very healty. only that the pain is located on a tendon which makes it " tendon BI " . i konw how to compose the formula, what i wanted to know is the effectivness of internal herbal mediine in compare to external herbal medicine when dealing with fingers pain. thanks, avishay http://traditionaljewishmedicine.com/ Now that's room service!
