Guest guest
Rick: I have had luck with finger pain by putting the needles directly in the site. Thin 1/2 inch red needles. I have also had tingling and numbness go away. I do a lot of things in a treatment. One thing I also do is get a needle in or near TH1 and another near the end point. Just so you are running the energy through the meridian, ahead of the pain, or numbness, tingling. Guest guest
Why is the pain there, injury to local area, neck, shoulder? tcm diagnosis? Old injury/surgery, medication. Anything may work, local needling, si 9-10, jia ji, GB 20-21, 34, herbs topical or internal. Any masses/tightness on palpation? Guest guest
I also run electricity between the huato points at spinal levels of C5 and C7 of the affected side. Also, near the ulnar nerve of SI8. This can be an ulnar nerve issue that can begin higher at the neck, get impinged in the brachial plexus or in the elbow. Sometimes, the elbow needs to be adjusted. _____ Chinese Medicine Chinese Medicine On Behalf Of anne.crowley Wednesday, March 14, 2007 6:20 AM Chinese Medicine Re: Tingeling & numbness of fingers Rick: I have had luck with finger pain by putting the needles directly in the site. Guest guest
Rick " I recently had luck with this using Ba Feng points on between the fingers (in webs) also in toes. Relieved the tingling and the numbness. The needles directly in the sides of the distal finger joint (relieved the last of the numbness) all in one treatment. Guest guest
<<A patient of my have tingeling and numbness of his fingers ( pink and ringfinger) >> You did not mention if you did any orthopedic tests to determine the cause of the tingling? Is the problem from the nerve root? Brachial Plexus? Impingement some where down the line? If none of the above, then of course pattern. For example, is the patient positive for compression, Spurling's and distraction, then nerve root. Then perhaps is there Tinnel's sign on the brachial plexus, is brachial plexus compression or tension tests positive, etc. Here is a good place to start: http://www.rmtstudents.com/clinical.html The tests are easy to perform and once you know the reason a treatment plan is easy based on that. Some excellent treatment plans have already been mentioned, but knowing the root cause can make the results dramatic. For example, I treated a young women two weeks ago with a similar " nerve " problem whose symptoms disappeared instantly with Tui Na and strong stimulation with needles on GB 21 and a few select ashi points. I had ascertained with using these tests that the problem was a muscular spasm that was causing the impingement on the nerve. If the problem was nerve root related my treatment plan would have been different, if it was inflammation different again, etc. David Botton
Guest guest
I had a patient come to me recently with this symptom. I had him start stretches where he links his arms behind his back and pulls, and also to do backward rowing exercises. His tingling went away in a few days. Now that's room service!
