Guest guest
I have a 9 year old patient with incontinence when he laughs. He is dry through the night and didn't have any unusual issues being potty trained. When he laughs he will wet his pants, not just a little dribble. His mother is under a lot of stress with a recent move and the father lost his job, but this problem has been going on for 2 - 3 years. I suspect there may be a psychological component. I'm treating both the mother and the child. Any thoughts for treatment? Has anyone treated childhood incontinence successfully with acupuncture? Thanks! Christopher Vedeler L.Ac. Guest guest
Hi, Some studies from the 'Journal of ' showed that 10 minutes of manually rotating Zhongliao BL-33 bilateraly was very helpful in contolling incontinence. Guest guest
I see you have gotten some responses Chris. It is good that you are treating the mother. If you weren't, I would have said do some auricular needles on her in another space while you are treating the son. Interesting that you say you are treating both the mother and the son. What 5 Element constitutional types do you see in them? Anne -------------- Original message ---------------------- " Christopher Vedeler L.Ac. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for your replies. The patient and his mother failed to show for their appointment and never called back after I left a message for them. I never got a chance to see either of them. I had just talked to the mother on the phone and got some of the details from that conversation. Anne, for children I often will treat the mother, or at least suggest treating the mother, whenever there is a pretty clear energetic connection between the child's pathology and the mothers.
