Guest guest
even with " eventually " as a modifier, the " her pain *would* be gone " statement sounds like a legal liability to me. anyone else thing so? I liked his answer, something like 3 or 4 days and the important thing was having back to back treatments. He also said eventually her pain would be gone. I have heard other acupunturists say this but I cannot utter these words. Everyone is different. How can you say it will be gone. We were just having this discussion on here not long ago, that the patient has to be invested in the healing. Also the patient might be invested, and things have gone on too long. So it will take more time to go away. Okay, it was still a positive outcome. Oprah said to the woman " Is you pain really gone, don't just say yes if it isn't. " And she affirmed that is was gone. Oprah also asked if she had the pain when she came in and she said yes definitely and that now it was completely gone. Again, a nailbiter. Dr. Oz explained acupuncture as setting off endorphins, but from the transcript (I didn't see the whole show), it seems he left out the electrical effects. As someone here said, it is good to have him presenting our profession in a positive light. Guest guest
Lynn: There are all kinds of ways around this. I have heard aggressive practice management groups say " Your pain will be gone, if.... " You take herbs as directed, exercise, eat right blah blah. I just always tell people, it is very dependent on the person. My experience is .... with back pain. I do tell them that over 90% of my patients feel bette overall when they come to acupuncture. That I have witnessed personally. The particular ailment, how old some is, how long it has been there, their willingness for it to go away, are all variables. Guest guest
I totally agree. There are just too many variables to state absolutely that anything will happen, especially as regards anything as deeply personal as pain. Tymothy Chinese Medicine , " J. Guest guest
Can you imagine the pressure to be on national TV and wait for the candid answer of how is the shoulder now.....We have all had those cases where it hurts worse or no change after all the hard work.....I thought he did a great job on all of it. I've done a live spot and a few taped ones and its always kinda exciting but scary. Ya know he knew that half the APs in the country were watching his every word....hero or the goat, today he is the hero. We have two new patients from the show now.
