Dear All.

I hear some acupuncture practitioner advertising its

effect for increasing the height in different age

groups, but I could not find any articles on this

issues or any references in any book.I wonder if any

body has any experiences /articles /references on this

issue.

I shall be happy to hear your comments on this topic.

regards.

I bump into this sort of patients from time to time and have had some very

successful cases. I don't have a secrete formula but normal CM fundamentals,

with advice on lifestyle and diet. I have learned to emphasize the importance of

having enough hours of quality sleep.

Currently, I happen to have one: 13-yo female, menarche 2 years ago, stopped

growing (not even 1/2 cm) 8 months prior to the first visit in late December,

started acupuncture and herbal in early January with a weekly visit. Started out

at 150cm in height, measured every other week at the same time of the day and

same day of the week. Measured before Tx #3, #5, #7, #9: 151.5cm, 152.5cm,

153cm, 153.25cm respectively. This is probably the best case I have got. In the

first visit, she was nervous about acupuncture, but fell asleep in 10 minutes,

and has slept through every single session. She goes to bed before 10:00PM and I

asked her parents not to wake her up on weekend mornings.

I use very few needles, but like I said, it's nothing unusual: SP6x2, ST36x2,

and Du20 in the first couple of visits, added SP9x2 in later sessions, and

added GB34x2 by the 7th session. Added acupuressure on the legs by the 5th

session.

Since the growth has slowed down, I'd like to hear others for suggestion.

I attended a 40 hour auricular treatment seminar by Dr. Li-Chun Huang

and here is the auricular prescription that she uses:

Kidney

Liver

Heart

Endocrine

Pituitary

Thalamus

Adrenal Gland

According to Dr. Huang, the points Kidney, Liver, and Heart are used

for tonifying the Kidney to nourish kidney yin and invigorate kidney

yang. The points Endocrine, Pituitary, Thalamus and Adrenal Gland

are used to treat deficiency of the kidney through regulating the

functions of the endocrine glands, pituitary gland, thalamus, and

adrenal cortex. As one of the important endocrine glands, the

adrenal cortex takes part in the regulation of metabolism, growth and

development of the human body.

Dr. Li-Chun Huang was one of the top acupuncturists in China before

she came to the United States. She is regarded as the top Auricular

Medicine researcher and practitioner. Most importantly for you, her

auricular treatment prescriptions are quick to learn and have a very

high efficacy. In fact, they have been my primary treatment modality

for the last 10 years.

Here is Dr. Huang's website: http://www.earmedicine.us/index.php

All of her seminars and books are wonderful. I refer to her

book " Auricular Treatment: Formulas and Prescriptions " on a daily

basis. To order her books, go to:

Here is a for people that use her techniques:

Thank you for this information.

Could you clarify ....Does she use only one ear per treatment? or does she

divide the points and use both ears? Is there a male/female polarity?

She generally alternates ears. For example, she will place seeds (on

tape) in the right ear one time, and the left ear the next and continue

alternating throughout the course of the treatment.

Hi Fadaie,

I did not use auricular points, although I learned from Dr. Huang years ago

also.

Given that he growth rate has slowed down, I might add them in the next Tx.

This particular case is a bit out of the ordinary because the she grew 1.5 cm

exactly 2 weeks after the first treatment, another 1 cm 2 weeks later, whereas

she didn't grow at all for 8 months prior to the first Tx.

Dr. Li-Chun Huang uses seeds because they can be left on patients ears

for several days without complications. Dr. Huang explained that she

stopped using intradermals years ago after several patients, of other

acupuncturists, developed infections.

I still occasionally put intradermals in my own ears, however, I do not

risk using them with patients. The reason that I possess intradermals

is because I purchased (super cheap) a large box of Seirin intradermals

at an acupuncture school's bankruptcy auction. After selling a bunch on

ebay, I kept what was left for myself.
