Guest guest
Bubo the goat 5 week old Nubian goat (BuBo) born prematurely. Mother died shortly after birth from uterine prolapse and hemorrhaging. As of today 2-9-07 he weighs 9 lbs 8 oz and put on a special tonic drink with extra vitamins and selenium. Blind at birth and very quiet. Eyes clouded and blue almost like cataracts. At 2.5 weeks old they cleared up greatly and now in the 4th week slightly more blue cloud again. Is sensitive to light and shadows. Is aware when approaching an object and stops and sniffs. Front two legs have tendon contractions told to start physical therapy today. Very unstable on his feet due to the contractions in front and an abreaction to a vitamin B shot in the rt rear leg. Flops on his side instead of the usual drop to the knees and then lay down. Has difficulty rising to feet. The knees are very swollen and hard looks like little balls on a crooked stick. Twitching and trembling of muscles on torso worse night or when fatigued. Acts very weak most of the time. Walks with head hanging lower not upright or above the shoulders. On palpation there is a hard swelling on the left side of the neck near the lower cervicals. Does not seem to be painful to the touch. It did not feel like a vertebrae out of place. The vet did not examine the neck today only the legs and eyes. In the last week Bubo has started crying more often. Also bleats when picking him up or helping to lift him. Not sure if in pain because doesn’t bleat all the time. Very friendly to people. Owners tried to let it starve to death after the death of the mother and is now in a rescue shelter. New owner pampering goat by keeping him in the house most of the time and even sleeping with the goat in her bed. When he bleats to go to the bathroom in the night she picks him up and lets him go outside if the weather is good and afterwards puts him in a pen inside the house. During the day he is let out in the yard with the other rescued goats. Doesn’t seem to desire to be with the other goats and backs away but the other goats are very curious and come up to smell and be with him. The goat also sleeps during the day with a bull terrior/pit bull combo dog. They cuddle together. The goat also loves people and is very curious and loves to snuggle with people. A deadly tornado tore through our county last week passing within 6 miles of us. Bubo did not seem to be overly concerned but the animals outside were terrified and tore up the barn, pooped everywhere and some even injured themselves. Only tree limb damage where they live however we could all hear the tornado as it passed by. Bubo raised his head bleated a couple of times and went back to sleep. What can we do for the tendon contractions and blindness. Bubo was put on a tonics including selenium and the B vitamins and is receiving massage and stretching physical therapy. On another note I would like to reach acupuncturists without borders but they require a microsoft passport id and password and I don't have one. I have working at the disaster command center this past week on the FEMA, state and local govt officials. However within a few weeks as PTSD sets in a lot of the victims will need help as well. I am interested in how to set up such an operation as I have the ear of the top officials. What paperwork is needed for intake and protection.
