Hello I'm looking for a way for sterilization of my cups.

Anybody has experience using glutaraldehyde 2% ?

Is too difficult to manipulate?

Thanks,

I used to work with glutaraldehyde a lot when I was an oceanographer, and

used it to kill and preserve plankton in seawater sampling. I don't think it

is a great sterilant because it is a respiratory irritant, has a bad odor,

immersion time has to be around 12 hours, has a short shelf life, and can be

expensive.. Even though it isn't classified as a carcinogen like

formaldehyde, yet, I think it is really nasty stuff. It should only be used

in a fume hood, and you should never allow it to get on your skin, because

once it binds to organic matter it pretty much does so for good. You will

also have to deal with disposal of the used solution. Although dumping it

down the drain is tempting (especially if you think the solution to

pollution is dilution) it isn't being environmentally responsible. I say

don't use it.

Best,

it soak

in a solution thats 1:5 ratio of bleach:water for 20 minutes.
