Guest guest
Simply, the colleges versus the profession. As time went by (12 years), it became a weaker and weaker argument. A more complex explanation woudl be too long, too boring, and too contentious, plus everyone would fall asleep except those looking for little soundbites to use for ammo later, sort of like Washington. Guest guest
Angela It all depends on which story you might hear and believe if anyone is willing to the air the laundry. Many would have to differ with Dave in that the so-called colleges are still in control. No disrespect to the education one is afforded..........but let's call the trade school exactly what it is instead of sugar coating what it is not. Your question can simply be answered by looking at who is more often than not on State Gov't Boards of Acupuncture and Association Boards. Richard In a message dated 1/26/2007 4:36:26 A.M. Guest guest
Yes and no. The AOMA did indeed support anyone who wanted to do acupuncture starting with detox folks who may stray from detox on occasion, MD's and DC's with minimal education, and seperate licensure, to the extent that herbs and the rest of OM scope would then become politically not feasible because of opposition from " within our own ranks " that politicians hate so much. AAOM at the time wanted to have a full scope available to everyone who wished to attain it, but had no problem with people practicing only acupuncture. Lets say we were in favor of integration instead of segregation. As it stands, the vast majority of acupuncturists use herbs even if not trained to do so. At least that it what an NCCAOM study showed.
