Hi,

Can we please wrap up the insurance discussion and get back to

discussing TCM. This discussion is only relevant to a portion of our

membership, and is not really germane to the mission of this group.

Thanks,

Mark,

I feel a need to say something here and I mean no disrespect. I realize

that this is a TCM board. However, if we can't succeed in the business end

of our practices, it won't matter how much TCM we know because we won't be

able to practice it because we'll be out of business. Very few of us

received any real formal training on insurance billing, running a business,

etc. Many of us don't come into contact on a regular basis with other

practitioners, or if we do, are uncomfortable asking business questions.

This is all many of us have. I remember this statistic; In the US, 79%

of acupuncturists are not practicing within

5 years of graduation. Why? Because they failed at business.

There are MANY, many topics I erase daily that do not interest me. It takes

less than 10 seconds to do so. If a topic line is " Business Management " ,

perhaps members could just hit the delete button like I do if they aren't

interested. Like it or not, our medicine and our businesses are one.

Inseperable. Now, if we were discussing housing swaps with other

practitioners, or trying to find homes for kittens, I agree that we should

stick to at least discussing our practices and medicine because that truly

is off-topic.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for listening.

I think Mark was specifically asking for an end to this Insurance

discussion and not the Business Management thread as a whole.

Although they are obviously related this Insurance thread is tiresome

to those practitioners outside the US where we do not have this

problem.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, I think business management is a crucial subject. We can't heal people if

we don't have it. Unless we do what Holmes suggested a year or so ago, sit

under a tree outside of town, and if you have what it takes, people will come.

With the modern world of technology, there are interferences between the patient

and the tree.

So " yes " , on the business discussion for me. I have received some private

emails on this to help my scheduling for which I am quite grateful.

The insurance issue continues to be a mystery to me. I do think it is a state

by state thing and as you point out maybe relevant to the U.S. only. It is a

huge quagmire that may be a factor of whether we can do business properly,

efficiently and profitably.

Sometimes there are discussions pertinent to Europe - I still find them helpful

to understand how acupuncture is practiced thoughout the world.

I realize that reading about insurance can be tedious, and the delete buttion is

close by. This is a vote for the insurance discussion, with an understanding

for the contingent from the East.
