Guest guest
I am a nurse as well as acupuncturist and a good phlegm removing technique is called clapping. CF patients especially use this technique to remove stubborn phlegm. Most older nurses, respiratory therapists and PT's can show you the technique. There are even pneumatic machines that help out. Do it wrong on especially little people or old people and you can crack ribs. I use it myself, teaching my hubby how to do when I get really congested. I use postural drainage with it using gravity to help out. I use gold plated needles a lot. I find they work great for tonification. I use silver ones for my clearing treatments(I'm 5element trained) and find they work well too. I used to get them from Acumarket but had a shipment that got wet and damaged in shipment and they would not do anything to help rectify the problem and won't insure packages so I can't afford to order from them anymore. I got my last batch of gold ones from OMS. The silver ones the only place I could find them was acumarket. I use the gold ones on special points, AEP's and source points to add a little extra boost to the treatment. My clients can notice the difference when I use them. I'm still looking for an acupunturist near DeKalb, Illinois outside of Chicago. I would love to find someone 5element trained. Its for a woman with depression so bad the docs told her family no hope for her. They are willing to try acupunture. Guest guest
Chris, In regards to the extremely depressed woman you mentioned, I thought I'd share a technique I heard about. A colleague of mine used it on a very depressed patient and said the results were immediate. She needled Due 20 and yin tang and applied electrostimulation to both. I haven't had a follow-up conversation with her, so I don't know the long-term results. I'll definitely ask the next time I see her. Guest guest
Liz, and Chris, I'd echo this for depression patients who lack energy yet cannot settle their mind, as a lot of this type of patients are. I remember I used this combination (and Shen Men, St. 36, among others) on a depression patient very successfully. In the intial visit this patient didn't finish signing her name before wanting to stand up and bang her head on the wall. This was a month after she cut her throa and left a 6-in mark and under government custody. She has been free of any drug or my treatment after only a few weeks of acupuncture and herabal. Note that other depression patients didn't respond to this combinary as well. Pattern differentiation is the key. Mike L.
