Guest guest
Laura, I would built up his immunity system with rich sources of antioxidants. Also try oregano eo. Catnip tea would calm him down and break a fever. Wash his feet and hands, arms down with witchhazel. Might be hard to get into a 5 year old, but I am sure a good rich broth made from chicken and garlic with a drop of oregano would help. Mono takes it's time to get over it. Guest guest
Hi CM When I had ongoing strep throat and the antibiotics would not help, I began taking 1drop of oregano oil 3x a day and within 3 days it worked. I have been hesitant to do this with my son because of his age. I know he would drink the soup. 1 drop of eo in a bowl once a day sound sufficient? I know mono has to run its course, but I think he needs a little herbal intervention : ) Thanks for you help, Laura On Sat, 05 Jun 2004 12:19:05 -0500 Christa Maria <cmaria writes: > Laura, > I would built up his immunity system with rich sources of > antioxidants. Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear that your son has mono. My son was 3rd grade when he got it. He is 16 now and at times still feels the effects. I have found that ecinachea tends to help him rebuild his strength and immune system. He's on again/off again all during the winter months and when he starts losing sleep due to school activities. He can't go and go for weeks like many teens. After a couple of days, he starts getting sick and we start in on the ecinachea. Be sure to follow directions as they have to be on awhile and off awhile. Hope this helps. I know what you're going through. Trish
Guest guest
I was going to say the oregano....1 drop on the back of the tongue works also...tastes yucky...but really helps stimulates the immune system to fight! My family swears by it. Licienne - Christa Maria Saturday, June 05, 2004 1:19 PM Re: mono Laura, I would built up his immunity system with rich sources of antioxidants. Also try oregano eo. Guest guest
Trish, Thank you, I think we are going to be adding echinacea to our line of defense. My son gets sick quite often in the winter, so I think I will start giving it to him when school starts. Guest guest
My brother has just been diagnosed with mono. he does not have a fever but is exhausted and tonsils and throat are very swollen and hard to swallow. he is living in pennsylvania, but will probably be returning home this weekend so we can take care of him. i have not seen him so i do not have any information on TCM nor 5E diagnosis but wanted to know if anyone has had experience treating mono (with just acupuncture as I am not certified in herbs) and what type of results they have found? anything i should be aware of or focusing on? i have a couple acupuncturist in my area that do offer herbs and i may take him to one but would also like to provide him some immediate support when he gets here. any information or book recs would be helpful too. thanks Beth Grubb Licensed Acupuncturist Certified Animal Acupuncturist 410-591-2644 beth www.bethgrubb.com
