Guest guest
Hyundo, I am referring to Sa-am acupuncture style. Do you have any articles on this method? I have accumulated quite a bit of miscellaneous notes over the years, but just want to expand things a bit and to see different people¡¯s perspectives. How is the constitutional book you mentioned below? what is it called? Thanks, -Jason _____ Chinese Medicine Chinese Medicine On Behalf Of Hyundo Kim Saturday, January 13, 2007 11:14 AM Chinese Medicine ´äÀå: Korean Constitutional Acu Korean constitutional medicine mainly deals with diagnosis and herbal prescription. Perhaps you are referring to sa-am acupuncture technique... There is a good book (in English) on the constitutional medicine but I don't think there is an English book on sa-am acupuncture technique. Let me know if you need more info. Hyundo Kim <@chinesemed <%40Chinese Medicine> icinedoc.com> ¾²±â: Does anyone have experience with the Korean Constitutional Acupuncture system? Guest guest
Hi Jason, I put a short paper in the files section labeled " Sa-Sang " -Korean Constitutional Medicine. Sa sang actually originates from the Nei Jing and was rewritten into the Jia Yi Jing, which Lee-Jae-Ma of the 19th century Chosun Kingdom (Korea) discovered and elaborated on. It is based on 4 body types and treatments based on each. The basic premise is that you can't give the same herbs/foods to all constitutions, because even if the diagnosis is correct; one must also take the congenital constitution into account to give an effective treatment. This is analogous to the 3 doshas of Ayurvedic Medicine, the 4 humours of Greek-Medieval European medicine, the 3 constitutional influences in Tibetan Medicine, the 5 phase types in 5 phase school, the six types in the six meridian constitutional school (look at Yves Requena's Psychology and book) etc. Like Ayuvedic, Tibetan and Greek medicine, Sa Sang is a complex and in-depth anaylsis of constitutional physiological/ psychological types. Unlike pop psychology typology, the Sa Sang system is applicable to an already established medical system ie. Chinese medicine. Also, Lee Jae-Ma did physiological exams on patients to compare measurements of organ sizes. There is also a pulse system involved with this. For further info, please read: Joseph Ki-hyun Kim's book: " Compass of Health " http://www.acupuncturetoday.com/mpacms/at/article.php?id=28454 & MERCURYSID=786e37\ d55a1e34e52f370449e3863a76 Also, Lee Jae-Ma's book has been translated into English.
