mercury poisoning revisited

I would have a hard time believing that just adding these herbs into a

formula will detox (/ chelate) mercury). I don¡Çt have chen and chen in

front of me, therefore do have a citation we can review. Mercury

detoxification is an interest of mine and I don¡Çt think it is an easy

chore

any way you look at it. What are the dosage and form that C & C suggests.

Does he claim alleviation of some s/s. Does he claim increased excretion via

i.e. urine? Just curious.

Dear Colleagues,

 

A patient of mine inquired about a topic previously discussed at length:

Mercury toxicity and mechanisms of detoxification. I really don't want to

revisit that general topic, but I do want to inqure on two herbs mentioned

in Chen and Chen's, " Chinese Medical Herbalogy and Pharmacology " : Gan Cao

and Tu Fu Ling as being able to neutralize the effect of mercury poisoning,

dosages for this purpose and their use (of course based upon appropriate

pattern differentiation) in formulas.
