I agree with Yehuda that Mg supplements may help bone remodelling; there

is solid research evidence that Mg suppplements increase bone turnover.

 

Since 1991, it is a national policy in Ireland to advise farmers to supplement

ALL dry cows in the last month of pregnancy with 15g Mg (as Mg oxide, but

any absorbable Mg salt will do).

 

Good farmer-compliance with this policy has reduced greatly the incidence

of peripartal problems in cows related to poor bone-turnover of calcium.
