The traditional character version (produced for Taiwan and other

overseas markets) is much more expensive. The original has had a few

editions but it is very inexpensive if you buy the simplified Chinese

version from the PRC.

Many thanks for taking the time to analyse this! Actually, I had

already translated each page with the help of Google translator

(very useful, but remarkable inept in some of its renderings). But,

as you found out, having the English in this case still doesn't help

much.

 

How did you conclude that ISBN 7-5323-0843 is the basic text? It's

not the 'lowest' ISBN ...

 

I think this basic issue might be of interest to a few TCM

practitioners who are struggling to improve their medical Chinese

and find it difficult to locate the right ISBN for a Chinese

language text. Is there a native Chinese speaker, or anyone, out

there who can explain the 'system', ie why we get these confusing

arrays of ISBNs with no explanation? Maybe it's part of the oriental

tradition of mouth-to-mouth transmission? You have to KNOW someone

who can guide you in the right way and lead you to the right

version. (This sounds ironic, but it is actually a serious

suggestion.)
