There are two books, one is the zhong yi da ci dian and the other is

the zhong yao da ci dian. The zhong yi title is a dictionary of

Chinese medical terms, the zhong yao title is an encylopedia of a bit

shy of 6000 medicinals. The ren min wei sheng book is the dictionary

of terms, the medicinal text comes out of Nanjing. The latter used to

be the biggest text surveying different medicinals, now a newer one

called the zhong yao ci hai has appeared with nearly 9000 substances

(if memory serves).

Thank you ever so much Yandy and Eric.

 

It was actually the Herbal dictionary, not the general TCM

dictionary that I was after. I have never heard of Zhong Yao Ci Hai.

Eric, do you have publisher/ISBN and/or edition for this? (I've just

tried Google for half an hour to no avail.)

 

Also, I forgot to include in my original post the links to the pages

advertising the different versions of the Zhongyao Da Cidian. If you

have the opportunity to look at these and comment which is best, I'd

be really grateful. I'm totally confused by the different ISBNs

(with no reason given) and the wildly different prices.
