Guest guest
Hi Avishay. Perhaps you already know, but there is Meditaf clinic in Ramat Aviv, which specializes in acupuncture with children. I am just completing their year course on Pediatric acupuncture, based on Julian Scott's course. Please contact me if there is any way that I can assist. Good luck. I think that your services are greatly needed in this country! Guest guest
Avishav: You are right to go to pediatiric doctors. They will have a lot of influence with parents. I don't know the culture or the medical structure very well in Israel, but I will take a guess at some strategies. Are thery other primary care people, like nurse practitoners, physicians assistants, especially those that deal with children but can look for physicians and other primary care that are not in the pediatric speciality, e.g. family physicans. Other marketing idea - daycare providers (where parents go) and little gyms - places where mothers hang out. La Leche groups and other mothers groups. For a little older dance studios, karate studios. Just some ideas, Avishav, to stir the pot. Guest guest
HI Avishay, Peadiatric treatment is a specialty. Childcare is not an easy matter, children develop and change rapidly. I 'd rather go with general practice and leave the children for specialists. Sometimes you may accept a child care, but should not claim to be a paediatrist, too much responsibility. Before being a child specialist be honest with yourself and ask yourself some questions : Do you I a good long year experience in general care? Am I very good in Acupuncture or herb ? Can I myself diagnose and treat meningitis, virus or bacterial infection, epidemic infection ??????????? YOu may treat a hundred sucessfully, but only one failure may destroy your whole career and your life. Think about this, take a small step first before proceeding. Good luck to your caeer Nam NGuyen
Guest guest
Hi Avishay, In terms of letting people know who you are and what you can do, it's best to get out there as much as possible. Send a letter to everyone you know in Israel announcing the opening of your clinic. It would be great to design and include a brochure which gives a short amount of info on your training, your specialities, your way of working with children, your fees, your address, your hours, telephone number, your e-mail address and (if you have one) your website. If you use needle-less techniques, this would be very important to mention as many people don't think their children will be open to being needled. It doesn't matter if the people you send it to live nearby, or even have children. They may know someone who does. Next, make sure you have an attractive sign outside your clinic. It shouldn't have much on it, that way it's easy to read. But you'll definitely want to list your specialty (i.e., pediatric acupuncture) and your phone number. Take your brochures and cards to every place in town where you can leave them - libraries, playgrounds, day care centers, grocery stores, children's shoe and clothing stores. Always have a bunch with you. If there is someone to talk with, such as at a day care center, make an appointment to see that person and let them know what you do and how it can benefit the children in their care. I sometimes have fun going to the library and putting my business card into books on alternative health care, yoga, etc. I figure someone looking at a book like that might be open to acupuncture. I can't say I've ever gotten a client that way, but it does let the universe know that I am open to new clients. Prepare a talk on pediatric acupuncture and offer it, free of charge, to libraries, day care centers and to the parent-teacher organizations at local schools. Many of these organizations are always looking for speakers. Be sure the talk is interesting (no boring reciting of facts only!) and it's really important to show how what you do can help their children. Always allow time for questions and answers afterwards. Take your appointment book with you to the talks. Often people will want to make an appointment then and there. I did many of these techniques in the beginning of my practice seven years ago. After a year or two, I didn't have to anymore. That's because my patients are my best advertising. As their friends and family get better, they become interested in acupuncture. Of course, I always keep brochures on hand in my office. If a patients says, (as they often do), " Will acupuncture help pain/inferitility/fibromyalgia? " etc. etc. etc., I give them a brochure to hand to their friend and say that I'm always willing to answer their friend's questions. I do pay for small ads in all the local phone books as people sometimes look for an acupuncturist there, but that's the only money I ever spend on advertising. Hope this helps. Good luck with your clinic!! Guest guest
I must support this comment: --- dr_namnguyen58 <dr_namnguyen58 wrote: > general care? Children change very fast, and as a responsible pediatric " specialist " you must not only be very aware of the ways to diagnose the above, but also be sure that the child you are treating has their own doctor or pediatrist that you pass responsibility on to when anything is weird. > YOu may treat a hundred sucessfully, but only one > failure may destroy > your whole career and your life. I can't support the above enough. > Think about this, > take a small step > first before proceeding. Many people run successful pediatric practices, but they do so with extreme responsibility. _Cover Your " Behind " _.
