I agree with Avery.

Turf wars, and the pot calling the kettle black, get us nowhere. Indeed, such

turf wars have led to ferocious " flaming " on some lists, so much so that

members had to be expelled summarily to keep the peace.

ALL of us who work outside of the " protected walls " of the highly defended

fort called " conventional or allopathic medicine/vet medicine " are under

threat of relegation to the scrap-heap at some time in the future by those

with interests vested in keeping people and animals sick and dependent on

repeat prescriptions for life.

We must all try to support each other. None of us (IMO) holds all the

answers to every medical/animal problem that we face every day. We must

recognise our own limitations and be prepared to refer cases if we have any

doubt about them being medical imperatives for referral.

As to what constitutes " sufficient training " to qualify one as a competent

therapist in any modality (acupuncture, CHMs, osteopathy, chiropractic,

etc), I can only say that we all work (I hope!) within the Law of our State or

Country. So long as we meet our (local) minimum legal requirements, we

are entitled to practise.

I would argue that, after >33 years of study and practice of acupuncture in

humnans and animals, I still feel that I do not know the system as well as I

should. I guess that I am a very slow learner but I love the trying and the

dream of better success next year.

For me, any chosen path in the area of medical / veterinary therapy is the

path of a lifetime. And when we knock at the Pearly Gates, the first question

that we should ask of St. Peter is " Where is the Master Class being held?

Secondary questions might be: Where do Huangdi, Qipo, Sun Si-Miao and

Shen-nong hang out? And how do I get to Hahnemann's and Boericke's

pads?

And while you are at it, where do Sibelius, Mozart, van Gogh, Gaudi and

Michael Coleman (a most famous fiddler from my home village in the West

of Ireland) hold their soirees?

In summary, IMO none of us will know enough about our chosen fields,

even if we live another 50 years. But we (or at least most of us) are all trying

to get better results than last year. and that requires study, contacts,

practice and more study in an endless cycle.

I say cool it before someone starts a flame.

Best regards,

I agree whole heartedly with Phil's request to end this thread. As the list

owner, I am requesting everyone to put this discussion to rest. Anyone who

doesn't do this will be suspended from the list.
