Guest guest
Hello, A friend suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome. 3 questions:- 1) Any ideas on TCM causes and treatments? 2) Her doctor recommended antibiotics because she apparently responded to antibiotics a year ago. Question 2a: Any theory or documentation that CFS may be caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites? I have heard of this, but I have no authority to read up on. Question 2b: Anti-biotics treat bacteria, and vaccines treat viruses, right? Question 2c: What TCM treatment do you recommend for ridding bacterial infection, especially to be used together with western antibiotics? Thanks in advance fir your answers. Guest guest
John, I would like to respond to your questions. 1) The concept of latent pathogenesis comes to mind. Auto/immune issues can create havoc within the body until treated. 2) a)) yes. I practice a Japanese style created by Kiiko Matsumoto and in her latest text on clinical strategies, she discusses reflex points for both diagnosis and treatment. b)) No. The idea of vaccination is to prevent an illness by stimulating the immune system with part(s) of various pathogenic micro-organisms. The treatment of an illness w/anti-biotics would be last in the progression of treatment strategies, vaccination would be first. c) Ridding the body is an interesting concept and not sure how effective that would be but certainly we can lessen the hold or change how a person responds to an organism. Kiiko suggests, if confirmed by the reflexes, to use certain pts with acu and moxa as well as nasal irrigation with sea salt and water (Ayurvedic Neti pot) daily. It takes a minimum of 30 days of nasal irrigation but most likely longer depending upon participation and dietary/environmental factors. Hope this helps. Mike W.
