Guest guest
Hello! Dear Dr.Debra: My name is Chen Xiaoqin, an English interpreter of TCM and acupuncture in Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM, and also a member of .com TCM forums. I understood that a few doctors from Europe are looking for a short-term course in China. Our hospital actually provides short terms clinical practice programs for foreigner TCM & Acupuncture practitioners. It would be our great pleasure to invite you and your friends to join our staff in Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM for the clinical internship. I would like to provide more information of our hospital and the training program for your further consideration. 1.LOCATION: Hangzhou is in southern China, 180km south of Shanghai, is the capital city of Zhejiang Province, and a beautiful city imbued with vital force and vigor, is one of the political, economical and culture exchange centers in China, which is one of the top 10 scenic spots in China. Hangzhou has been known as the " Paradise on Earth " and has long been famous for its break taking scenic beauty and abundant natural resources. It takes only 90 minutes flight from Beijing or Hongkong, 2 and half hours train from Shanghai. The hospital is located in the center of the city; 5 minutes walk distance to the beautiful West Lake. Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM was founded in 1931, and is a Grade Three Class A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, medical education, scientific research, rehabilitation and health care with tradition Chinese medicine being its main feature. It is also the largest affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University of TCM(Õã½ÖÐÒ½Ò©´óѧ). The hospital is well known nationwide, has the longest history and largest in scale with the best technical capacity in Zhejiang Province. 2.TRAINING PROGRAM: Health Bureau of Zhejiang Province and Traditional Management Bureau of Zhejiang Province has authorized IEC-TCM (Zheiang International Exchange Center of Clinical TCM ) as a specific institute for organizing foreign TCM & Acupuncture practitioners to come to Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM for TCM & Acupuncture clinical internship. The hospital has been training foreign students since 1990, had trained 80-100 foreign students every year in the past 5 years. The satisfied rate is over 95%. Clinicians involved in providing the educational program are TCM consultants, professors and experts, and each has 10-40 years of clinical experience. Generally, one Acupuncturist and Massage doctor sees 30-40 patients every day, while TCM clinicians have 50-60 patients per day. There are 8 doctors in the acupuncture department, 4 of them can speak perfect English, and they have been training foreign students for about 15-20 years. Two of our Tuina doctors can speak good English, and had been trained many foreigner students in the past 20 years. One of the dermatology doctors speaks fluent English. Most of our TCM physicians do not speak English, but we usually arrange a well-trained TCM interpreter for them, they not only speak English, but also are TCM master degree students or TCM junior doctors. It is very helpful for the foreign TCM & Acupuncture beginner to understand the Philosophy of TCM, since the interpreters themselves also majoring in TCM. IEC-TCM is offering over 15 different departments with 25 specialties to TCM physicians, TCM postgraduates, and senior students for clinical experience exchange and advanced TCM clinical internship. The training programs as offers are: TCM, Acupuncture and Tuina. Acupuncture inncluding Abdominal Acu, scalp acu, wrist & ankle acu, body acu). TCM clinic includes TCM-Internal Medicine, Bi Syndromes, TCM-Gynecology, TCM-Pediatrics, TCM-Neurology, TCM-Respiratory Disorder, TCM-Alimentary Disorder, TCM-Facial Massage, Herbal Pharmacology, TCM-Oncology, TCM-Dermatology, etc. Participants can choose the programs according to personal need. Some Inpatient Departments can also be visited. It is possible to offer some specific topics according to participants' requirements. The contents of the lecture combine TCM basic theory with rich clinical experience. Upon the completion of intensive training, a certificate will be issued to attendees. 3.VISA: Students can come over to China on a tourist visa or Study/visit visa. The tourist visa application does not need any documents from us. They just need to present their passport and a written application letter to Chinese Embassy in their home country for the tourist visa application. It is possible to extend the visa in Hangzhou. If students want to come over to China on Study/Visit visa, they need to present more documents, which will be instructed on requirement. With their documents, we will apply formal invitation letter from local authorities in 4-6 weeks advance. The invitation should be faxed to them two weeks before their entrance. With the fax, they are able to apply Study/Visit visa. 4.COSTS: The tuition fee: US$650.00 / per month / per person. With English teaching or English translation. (1). If 6 students (include 6) are organized in one group and study for a month, our hospital provide 90% discount of tuition fee for every student. 5. Accommodations: We are very sorry that our hospital's foreign students' dormitory are on renovation currently, it takes about 6-8 months. That means students have to stay outside instead of hospital dorm during this time. We found two hotels which are only 5 minutes walking distance to our hospital and The West Lake. One is DONG PO Hotel: Three Star. The price is: US$21.50/per room /per night. Exclude meals. The other one is XIANG YI Hotel: Three Star. The price is: US$27.60/per room /per night. Exclude meals Both hotels are very clean and convenient, comparatively, the rooms in XIANG YI Hotel are bigger than in DONG PO Hotel. If any further questions you may have, please feel free to contact us. We are looking forward to hearing from you. Your email was quite helpful! Could you please forward me the information? I speak mandarin. My colleagues do not ^-^. Im not sure if any of you speak mandarin but if you do it will much cheaper. I can forward the details of the man that is in charged for dealing with foreign students and doctors if you wish. Another way of going about is by talking to the doctors that are currently teaching you in Hunan. Im sure they will know many doctors working in Beijing hospitals that can help you get placements for a much cheaper price. This way however does not give you a certificate from a university so it depends what you really want, i.e. just the training or both training and proof of it. It is also a good idea idea to do research on the various hospitals that you might want to go to as both the conditions of the hospitals as well as speacialities of the hospitals vary as I am sure you are aware of. Zhong Ri youyi hospital and dongzhimen hospital are but only two that are well known for teaching foreigners. I hope that I was of some help and not repetition of what you might already know!
