eric, i have a couple rather elemetary q's. being primarily an acupuncturist, i

do not know what herbal " lacquer " is, and do not recall what " frost " is. pardon

my apology, thanx for the great info! p.s. ok, all of u herbalists are rubbing

off on me, just in case u want 2 feel smug :) lynn

Tx. internal hemorrhage (e.g., thrombocytopenic purpura). Combine with

biota leaf, kalimeris, & ass hide glue. Also used for panting. 3-9g.

 

shi4 di4, persimmon calyx, Calyx Kaki

balanced bitter & astringent nontoxic lung

Actions: Downbears counterflow qi; stops hiccough and retching.

Tx: counterflow cough; stomach reflux. decoct (6-12g) or use in pills.

 

shi4 qi1, persimmon lacquer, Lacca Kaki

bitter & astringent

Tx. hypertension.

 

shi4 bing3, dried persimmon, Fructus Exsiccatus Kaki

cold sweet & astringent nontoxic

Actions: Moistens the lung, astringes the intestines, & staunches

bleeding.

Tx. blood ejection; expectoration of blood; blood strangury;

intestinal wind; hemorrhoids & fistulas; dysentery. eat raw, decoct,

or burn preserving nature for use as a powder.

 

shi4 shuang1, persimmon frost, Saccharum Kaki

cool sweet nontoxic lung

Actions: Clears heat, moistens the lung, transforms phlegm.

Tx. dryness cough due to lung heat; dry sore throat; sores of the

tongue & mouth; blood ejection; expectoration of blood;

dispersion-thirst. 9-15g as a decoction; or allow 1.5-3g at a time to

melt in the mouth.

 

shi4 mu4 pi2, persimmon bark, Cortex Kaki

Actions: Treats blood in the stool & burns.
