Guest guest
At present the AAOMA (join if you haven't, at present about 8% of the field are members of a national organisation, if there are no funds, there is no lobby) is taking names and opinions of LAc's and students on its website. They are setting up a taskforce, though i'm not certain that has been accomplished with a focused agenda. One article that gives a clear picture of the political road ahead is from Michael Devitt, a contributing editor of Acu Today: http://www.acupuncturetoday.com/archives2006/aug/08ama.html It's looking like it's going to be a tough ride, this newest action appears to be a " sensitive " bill to gauge the reaction of the relative professions (not simply LAc's, but the anyone not recognised by the AMA), the further political trends will much depend on the management of this action. This also depends on how much money they garner, at present they have about 120, 000$, i think, not a sizeable sum, but enough to have house members sign the actions they want The most difficult aspect of the entire affair is how these steps are being clothed inside of " care for the patients " when in fact, the initial assessment is that those who most need complementary care, the poor and indigent will probably be the greatest affected. This depends on many factors of course, but if the past is any recorder, the general political apathy of LAc's give anyone with a mind to control our scope a wedge into the profession. Let us hope this won't be the case. Tymothy " We could hardly wait to get up in the morning. " Wilbur Wright -- http://www.fastmail.fm - A fast, anti-spam email service.
