Guest guest
The URL someone recently suggested looking at: http://thedao.com/chinese_herbs_dictionary.htm names but provides no further information on a number of substances I use (in a practice inherited from someone under mentorship from a reknown Cantonese herbalist), but wish I could find more detailed information (beyond knowing they are useful in certain combinations/modules, for certain aspects of condiions), such as huo tan mu mang guo su xing hua mei gui hua,... Anyone know a source (in English) with better info on such, somewhat more esoteric substances? (My standard sources, such as Bensky, and the John Chen book, also neglect to cover these.) Guest guest
If you look at all of these on-line herb dictionaries, they are all very disappointing. The China-based ones are sloppy, poorly developed software with poor translation. The Western ones use a pastiche of different texts, confusing term choices, and none approach what is already in print. I am only interested in on-line resources if they match or at least compliment hard copy resources, whether in English or Chinese. What's the point, otherwise? Other professions have decent on-line tools, why don't we? Guest guest
In addition, If we are going to recommend websites or on-line resources, it would help to have some type of criteria or quality control on choosing these sites. Most of them have lots of rubbish, some of them don't work properly, or they are trying to sell sometimes dubious products. Someone recently forwarded me a link on a tcm cancer herbs site that was basically selling anti-cancer Chinese herbs to all takers.
