The herbs that have been subject to either a statutory or voluntary ban in the UK include the items below, either because they contain AA or are frequently substituted for herbs that may: Fang Ji (Guang and Han) Xi Xin Mu Tong Wei Ling Xian The majority of adverse events with CHM has come from Œpatent¹ medicines (especially of Chinese origin), either self prescribed or prescribed by acupuncturists who have insufficient training to make a full herbal diagnosis or are not abreast of the safety issues by dint of not being a member of the professional body.
