If I were to ever make my patient jump like that doctor did, it would be the end of my practice days! Just getting any qi at all about finishes you in the states. Whew! Guest guest
...and that doctor was none less than Sheng Can-Ruo, Nanjing Jiangsu's most famous acupuncturist (who taught Jeremy Ross, Peter Deadman,...) In Belgium many patients tolerate strong deqi. I don't feel ashamed or insecure about it, and I think that matters a lot when you have to explain what you do to a first-time patient. Most patients tell me that if they get better, they don't mind the short pain. Guest guest
Wow, I don't think that could happen here and be gotten away with, on second thought, there was a dr who poked ice picks through peoples forbrains in the early forms of psychosurgury. Yuck, This acupuncture wasn't sterile if people noticed that. I can't believe the patient twitched and didn't hurt the foot with the needle going through all the way. This makes me think of the patients response has to be to relax even more so that she doesn't hurt herself and she might have to actively tune out a bit, with the help of some feel good chemistry reflexes. cheers, Rozz Lieght skip8080 wrote: > http://english.itcmedu.com/practical/index_2.html#
Guest guest
Interesting debate about qi. So then, the superficial Japanese needling must not work because it does not make a person jump. Hmmh. I guess I do not buy that and I hope to hear that others do not either. Mike W. Guest guest
I believe Japanese acupuncture must work very well for those who know how to practice it. I have studied some myself and Stephen BIrch was in Rothenburg teaching on the subject. However at this point in my life I don't feel so attracted to this style of acupuncture. I also know that Chinese style of acupuncture works as well, and my patients can bear it easily so for now I'll stick with what I've learned. I like the theoretical base of Japanese acupuncture, but actually the same system can be found within Chinese (and French) styles of acupuncture. Guest guest
Each has it's place IMO. While the bulk of my training was with TCM, I am very grateful for the Japanese style training I received as it greatly helped with my needling technique and provided a deeper perspective to the medicine in general. I use Chinese style acupuncture about 80% of the time as I too find that it works well with most of what comes in my office (most pain, woman's health etc.). However, for conditions like fibromyalga, chronic fatigue and similar conditions, Japanese acupuncture is much better in my experience. Also for kids, ADD, ADHD and some emotional conditions, Japanese acupuncture is my tool of choice. We all tend to use what we are most comfortable with, what we understand the best and what has worked for us in the past. One of the things I love about OM is that there is a lifetime of study available to deepen and broaden one's understanding. Christopher Vedeler L.Ac., C.Ht.
