Brother-in-law had a problem with a large open sore on his leg last summer---the doctor's diagnosis was a Brown Recluse Spider bite. This was in central New York State.

My Brother-in-law was just released from the hospital. A Brown Recluse, in Missouri. He was throwing up, his hands, legs and feet were swollen and his Oxygen levels were impaired. They found the bite on his abdomen and after treatment he is recovering. They also removed an abscessed area about softball sized at the bite location. He was on his way back to Germany but he has to stay here for 6 weeks now. Lynda Blessed are the Cracked, For they are the Ones Who let in the Light!

I had a friend that was bit on the leg by one. She is the " tough it

out " type so went till it was turning black and her boyfriend was

insisting she go to doc. Ultimately, she spent several days in the

hospital and ended up with about a 3 " deep " hole " in the muscle of her

leg clear down to her bone! Until then I had NO IDEA that Nebraska

had such dangerous spiders. We generally lime around the exterior of

the house to ward off and kill any kind of " invaders " and when we are

thorough with it with hardly ever see a critter. This year now, we

didn't get lime around very fast and have had so many rains that it

didn't stay very good and have had some scary looking spiders in the

house. The last one was on a drape heading down behind an

impossible-to-move bookcase, I didn't have any spider spray on hand,

so I threw lime dust down behind all the furniture on that side of

room and down the drape .. and I hope!! No one needs those kind of

home-invaders, stealing one's muscle!! Joyce
