I'm hoping somebody has an answer for this one. For about 3 weeks now, I have had terrible itching and burning in my hands. It seems it's worst upon getting up in the morning, or after I've taken a nap. I get tiny blister-like bumps on my hands sometimes too. I've tried cortisone cream too, but it does nothing.

Hi Joel,

That sounds like a reaction as being intolerant of something you either

ingest or your hands/skin comes in contact with.

Are you on any medication? Have you changed the soap you use

for washing your hands, dishwashing liquid? Are you drinking

any soft drinks.. or soda drinks?

I had such an itching when I was pregnant with my first child - I felt it

was irritability - but would wake at night scratching my hands - someone

gave me a bundle of goodies for the baby and in it there was a proprietary

skin cream called Ego Skin Cream - possibly unique to Australia - but two

applications and the rash disappeared never to return - maybe it was an Ego

thing? The description you give describes it precisely even tho it was 37

years ago.

Some people are allergic to detergents and it will cause a reaction like this. Hmmm, nothing has changed, other then bringing our new daughter home May 18th. I'm on synthroid, celexa, CoQ10, Blessed Thistle is the most recent change, Calcium. Everything has been the same for months except the blessed thistle. But I've only been taking that for about a week. I don't drink soda...well very rarely. I might have a glass at a family gathering, but mostly drink water and milk. No soap changes at all. Sometimes I get this itching in other parts of my body, and I believe it might be from certain ingredients in my food, but the hand thing is very new.

Thank you for the input. I've never heard of that type of cream before. I've tried an anti fungal cream, aquafor and the cortisone. Nothing helps. Most of the day I am fine...but when I've been sleeping awhile, it gets unbearable.

I do use Cetaphil on my face, so it inadvertantly gets on my hands when I rub it in.

My son was planting some plants and he also started itching all over his hands, I had him wash his hands with vinegar, after he rubbed 1/2 cup full of MSM in powder form (I get it at the health food store) over the wet skin from the vinegar, and the itching stopped, to keep the heat from returning, I had him use Bentonite Clay, this is a clay we keep in a jar (1 part clay to 3 parts water, we mix it in the blender and keep it in a jar with plastic lid) the itching never returned. This is were we normally get the clay: http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/clay/clay.html great for baths, this is the one we use internally http://www.specialclay.com/servlet/the-Healing-Clays/Categories there are numerous bentonite clays that are good, we happen to like these.

That's strange, because the only thing I can take for my migraines is aspirin. I've been getting plenty of migraines lately, so have been taking plenty of excedrin, or regular aspirin. I will look into that. Also, I noticed this started the day after I planted a bunch of annuals in my garden.
