Dear Health & Healing List:

This is a discussion that has been going on for years. I asked Dr.

Russell Blaylock about it a long time ago when some physicians had

questions. Here is what he said:

" As for the L-cysteine, it is an excitotoxin under most

circumstances. In the body, large amounts are metabolized to a

variety of even more potent excitotoxins. In the cell, L-cysteine is

converted to glutathione. The only safe way to use cysteine is as

N-acetyl-L-cysteine. "

Dr. John Olney founded the field of neuroscience called

excitotoxins. Dr. Blaylock who is a neurosurgeon who after retiring

also practiced nutrition for about three years, wrote the book on it.

Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, www.russellblaylockmd.com He is

the leading neurosurgeon in the world today on the subject. His book

goes into L-cysteine. It discusses MSG and aspartame mainly. The

aspartic acid or aspartate in aspartame is the excitotoxin. On his

web site you will see the Blaylock Wellness Report which I also

highly recommend. Every month you will get a report many times as

long as 16 pages by email on various subjects, many discussed on

this list. You will also see the link to www.atavistik.com where he

has other material such as the CD " The Truth About Aspartame " and a

DVD, Nutrition and Behavior.

One of my favorite books he wrote is " Health & Nutrition To Save Your

Life " . This goes into aspartame, MSG, fluoride, vaccinations and

many other subjects. If you know everything in this book you

probably know more than 95% of the physicians in this country. He

also has one " Natural Strategies for Cancer Victims " .

Dr. Blaylock can be seen in the aspartame documentary: Sweet Misery:

A Poisoned World, www.soundandfury.tv

All my best,

Betty

Am I right if I say that we need a di-peptide. L-Cystine (its not L-cysteine) is a double bod or dipeptide. Stable. Non toxic. By contrast L-cysteine, be it N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, is not a double bond and is toxic. Am I right? For a short time N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine is used to detoxify liver. But then it is used in low dose and for a short time.

Correct me if I am wrong.
