Guest guest
Hi. I am glad I found this group. I am a mid thirties mom from very Northern California on the coast, married with two kids, one with autism. I would really appreciate any advice anyone can give me as I have been going through a really hard time. I had mild asthma as a small child which resolved itself by the time I was in school. In the last three years I have had minor shortness of breath at times and have found it a little harder to exercise. I also made a move from a dryer climate in Northern CA to the damp climate of Humboldt County. The problems started about a year after and I have no idea if they are related. About two years ago I moved into a newer house in the hills, built mid nineties. No visable mold, good condition, hard wood floors. Two weeks after I had increased shortness of breath. I contacted the doctor who did an ecg which was fine and gave me asthma meds and told me to exercise more. It would come and go and wasn't interfering with my life too much. In February I got sick with a flu, which quickly went into my lungs. I got bad shortness of breath. I went to the doctor for it and got advair, and then soon after went to urgent care and got oral steroids. I had an asthma attack where my peak flow was less than half and I was having alot of trouble breathing, more oral steroids and antibiotics, chest x- ray, then another cat scan. Only mild infection but lungs look good. Started to feel a little better, into March, then worse and had to go back to ER, coughing up tons of mucus, horrible coughing fits with throwing up, wheezing, shortness of breath all day long. More oral steroids, with marginal results. April, less coughing fits, still short of breath. Checked my blood, thyroid, liver, kidney, adrenal glands. Tried flovant, xopenex nebulizer, abuterol, qvar, only marginal results, not really helping. Still on Advair 250. Did lung function test in April, looked good. Shortness of breath most of every day. Hard to exercise or do anything. Coughing up mucus. Wheeze in mornings. Did allergy skin tests. Nothing. The allergist spent five minutes with me and diagnosed me with rhinitis and told me to take oral steroids. I told him I have taken them twice and they didn't work. Have been flushing my nose with salt water but haven't noticed a difference. Had acid reflux and put on Prilosec. Helped reflux but not breathing. Went on homeopathic remedy. Did methocholine test and nothing showed up, although I started wheezing in the middle of it, lungs didn't react on computer. I am on a multi, astragulus, a mushroom compound, C, Quercitin, mullien, nettle, a probiotic, and I did elderberry for a month. I am on an antiinflammatory diet with no sugar or preservatives, no junk food. Any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks.
Guest guest
Try the protocol which is mentioned for asthma in Dr Batmangheldij's book " The Body's Many Cries For Water " - some salt on the tongue and a glass of water - and Normal Saline Solution nebulised also helps - if you can get to a homeopath they will usually help too ...... Swami Ramdev has excellent Pranayama exercises detailed on his website - google to find it. Try Swami Ramdev - Pranayama Jane

Guest guest
In March, I too came down with the flu. I only suffered one day with the flu but the flu developed into a secondary infection in my lungs and for the next 2 weeks I had bronchitis. When I searched for something to take since I didn't want to see a physician for it, I found out that Quercetin is good for asthma. Luckily I already had a bottle of it that I would take from time for an allergy, I began taking my Quercitin w/ Bromelain and guess what? My bronchitis cleared up almost over night. Not only that, when my brother and elderly mother came down with bronchitis in April they took Quercetin w/ Bromelain and thier symptoms cleared too. Great stuff. Josephine. Any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks. >
