Beer kills slugs

You can buy the cheapest beer available and put into pie pans or some sort of flat container. Put in the garden in the late evening it will be full of dead slugs when you wake up. My grandfather taught me this trick. I used to see cases of beer in the gardening shed. I ask him one day why it was there. He showed me how he used it. He put it into aluminum cake pans. That was a very long time ago, but it works really well and you don't have to worry about animals getting poisoned.

 

Since then I have learned that diatomaceous earth works very well also, but you have to put it down frequently, water with disperse it. I have a friend who used a fine sifter to put onto plants so that she does not have to use pesticides, works well, but it's messy. Washes off very easily.
