Guest guest
Text book average blood pressure is 120/80, the top number (systolic BP) being the pressure exerted on the blood vessels when the heart pumps, and the bottom number (diastolic BP) being the pressure exerted on the blood vessels when the heart is between pumps, relaxed. Text book heart rate is 60-100. Many things affect heart rate: age, medications, allergic reactions, health, exercise. Athletes tend to have hearts that beat slower, in the 50-60 range often. Exercise makes the heart stronger and so it beats a little slower, but is able to circulate a larger amount of blood. Your number 83 is just fine. Is this is an average you have taken several times, while walking around, while lying down, first thing in the morning, etc.? Perhaps taking a calcium/magnesium supplement will make you calmer, more relaxed, and bring your numbers down. They used to recommend twice as much calcium as magnesium, but now it's more like equal amounts. We are all so magnesium deficient. Too much will cause bowel issues, so if you want to get more magnesium into your system, you can get some magnesium oil or gel to put on your skin from www.globallight.net. This does not usually cause bowel issues. Eating more vegetables will also increase your Ca and Mag. Kat In a message dated 5/7/2008 6:10:04 AM Pacific Standard Time, keith writes: Hi all.. I had a question about blood pressure and pulse rate. My blood pressure is 122 over 74 and my heart rate is 83. I have no problems with the pressure but was wondering about the pulse rate being a little high. Is 83 high? If so how can I get it lower? I'm not really worried about it but was wondering about it..Cheers..Keithmj Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Get new twists on family favorites at AOL Food.
