I sure love this thread everyone. It's a decision each of us must make if we are to stay healthy. My husband had to have a stint a few years back, we already ate pretty much natural foods but I wanted more. I have many friends who are eat only organic food. I started asking questions and a 15 year old who helped her mom a lot (now is 21 and grows her own all organic garden during the summer) yummy. She started going grocery shopping with me. Helped me to read the labels to find those hidden ingredients to stay away from showed me safe products that were not marked organic. I am still learning every single day, but my husband and I have never been healthier. Eating the way we were created to eat helps us stay balanced and well. We can eat what we need to fight off sickness. I have completely given up Pharmaceuticals. They were killing me. I now use herbs and natural wild crafted tinctures for medicine. Very rarely I might add. If my back starts hurting I know I usually need to drop a few pounds. My hubby and I are very in touch with our bodies. We have learned to listen to what they (our bodies) are saying to us.

One of the big ones for us was soy. We like soymilk. You must investigate the source if you use it at all, otherwise you are probably getting GMO products. I want to stress here, even organic soymilk can be GMO contaminated as the soy industry needs to clean up their act, lots of deception going on. It's hard to know sometimes. I make lots of calls to the 1-800 numbers on the packages. I have found more than one organic product that was not truly organic. A nutrition bar marked organic put out by CLIF was not truly organic. The organic group I associate with got in touch with them and they no longer market this particular bar as Organic, they do put certain ingredients as organic. They put out a newer nutrition bar which is much smaller but marked organic and I believe it is. My husband no longer gets headaches (associated with additives and chemicals). When you get your body clean you can tell in a minute if you ingest anything that is not organic. I also believe you taste things more completely.

Organic food has such a wonderful taste, and it fills us up much more quickly. We really enjoy it. We love fish but be careful the waters where it comes from. Make sure it is clean (It's expensive, but we don't have high medical bills anymore and can afford to treat ourselves). We live on the West Coast of the USA and many of the ocean fish have heavy metal contamination, it's scary to eat it. There are still safe waters but often one has to have it shipped in. We also get our white chicken and turkey from local organic farmers who range feed and don't use antibiotics or chemicals in their grains, same with eggs. My friend who has the organic garden buys Llama meat at an organic farmer in the area. I could not wrap my mind around that concept, but have tasted it and it's very good. We do not eat meat to speak of just fish and a little white poultry. By the way those of you who enjoy meat the supermarkets out there have organic range fed beef and poultry with no additive or chemicals. Makes like a lot simpler. If you have a supermarket that is conscientious about what they sell you are very lucky. They check into their vendors and here in Oregon it's getting more important that vendors watch what they do as once they get busted for something they are usually out of business. Yes it's more expensive to eat organic food, but you will be healthier and save money that way. Using local farmers and co-ops will help keep the cost down. When something goes on sale I purchase a lot of it and freeze or dry it and seal it in airtight packaging. We all need to learn how to do more and more as far as our food supplies go. With the cost of food these days it's becoming a luxury item. So many hungry people.

Does it seem to you guys that this country is without leadership right now? It sure seems that way to me. Everyone has their own agenda and no one is looking out for those of us who need someone to step in a put a halt to these gas prices which drive up the food prices and cost of living is getting quite challenging.

What I wanted to stress about organic food is to just start purchasing a little at a time and notice the difference it makes. If you have a small patch of dirt anywhere grow some of your own. It's wonderful and feels good to eat what you grow. It also taste wonderful. As you go along you learn more and more and find yourself eating more healthy foods and feeling just great because of it. My hubby and I just found an organic eatery that makes everything from scratch. It's been there for 2 years and we just discovered it. This young woman bakes all these wonderful desserts and it's just fabulous. Even though I do not eat many sweets, I tried something there and it was so delicious. Many blessings and much love to all of you out there.
