Using Affirmations

Hello to Everyone.

I checked the archives and found that a search on " affirmations " turned up

far fewer results than I anticipated.

Well, this is one of my favorite topics. So, I thought I'd start a thread, if

that's okay?

I've researched language and its effects on people for a number of years now

through

the disciplines of semantics, hypnosis, and the cognitive neuro-sciences.

I've found that one of the functions of words is to foster images in the

mind...to aid us

in creatively visualizing. Sometimes though, the images created are far

different from

what was 'intended'.

Therefore, affirmations should be crafted with great, great care. The fact that

people don't do this is a big reason why they sometimes fail to work (not the

only one, but a big one).

Generally, if an affirmation is not showing some kind of result within 2 weeks,

then

there is possibly something in its wording that your subconscious is having

trouble with.

For example, this affirmation looks okay:

" I, John, now teach a nutrition seminar weekly. "

But, say it out loud. How does it sound now?

If it doesn't sound right, or feel quite right, it may be because what your

subconscious mind hears is, " I, John, now teach a nutrition seminar WEAKLY. "

In other words, your affirmation has now become a command to exhibit

frailty or fragility (weakness).

So, always take great, great care in crafting your affirmations. Make sure you

are saying what you 'intend' to really say.

Thanks for letting me share.
