You are right about the channels you mentioned but the CRAP outweighs the good stuff.

Do I miss television? Yeah, SOME! But not enough to run out and buy a set and get satellite/cable installed. I guess maybe I would do that IF I could just pay for the shows I want (no package deals because most, I would never watch). There are only a handful of shows I would like to see and that is not enough.

While one can't take everything one sees as Truth, there are kernels.....plus, some of the visual stuff is amazing. They (forget the name of the group) recently did a deep water exploration, further than they've ever gone before. Some of the stuff you got to see was amazing. I get the National Geographic newsletter for precisely that reason - they've recently discovered some very interesting stuff in the Antartic and in the deep waters........you're missing some knock your socks off visuals..........*smile*Lynn

TV, baa baa, is for the sheep.I don't care.I have plenty of other stuff to do with my time.Kenneth T

You'e right on that account - awful lot of garbage on........I think it's

melting people's brains...........*grin* Well, between the tv and the

video games....

I'll admit - I do like the boob tube....never watched much until I was

almost 40......There have been a number of times in the last couple of

years when we couldn't afford cable or satellite....so, the only thing to

watch was the major stations and whatever was

local....Gak........

I think I started watching it when I became bedridden......actually, even

though I don't watch them now, for a while I used to watch the soaps -

the nurses in the hospitals got me hooked on those!! But, you're right -

there is so much Crap on most of the stations. Except for when I was ill,

I don't think I watched it much. But, when you're stuck in bed, and

sometimes don't even feel well enough to read - there's the good old

idiot box to keep you company!! *grin* I watch it when

I can't sleep too, and my eyes are too tired to read. Sometimes, no

matter how stupid, it's nice to have something to watch and take your

mind off the fact that it's 3 am and it seems like everyone is asleep but

you......*grin*

Makes me mad, now though - this whole thing with digital. No more will

someone be able to pull out their old tv from the closet to watch

whatever - unless they go and buy a new one. Personally, just think it's

a racket to get people to buy new tvs. Makes me mad too, that you really

can't watch for free anymore - because you can't get much of

anything........Problem with people today is, though, they don't read

enough or socialize much......Families even eat with the tv set.....how

are you supposed to know what the heck is going on with your kids or

spouse, when you have a constant eye on tv?

'Course, the computer's not much better in that regard.....I'm beginning

to wonder if it's a generational thing......

My belief is WAAAAY outside the topics of this group concerning the "new" digital requirements of television and with that, I will give up this topic, it was fun while it lasted. Any other comments from me on this subject, will be directed to individuals instead of the group.

As always --- thinking "outside" the box.
