tithing is a tenth part, not 10%, but the clergy have allowed this false

notion to continue.........it is the tenth part of your increase, and it

went to the levites, the pristly bunch that got the increase, and who did

no work, not the church or GOD! kraig

What is increase?

Sincerely Barb M.

What I have read says that people ended up paying about 27 percent actually for all the services that the church provided like our government does today. ( some went for the temple and upkeep etc. )

A tithe was a tenth part (10%) of what people got, or grew. Throughout,

people are exhorted to bring their tithe to the storehouse. Lev27:30;

So, what's your point?

There isn't....unless one continually does 10% on everything. A tithe is

supposed to be on what you get - it is assumed, one has already tithed on

what one has.

What the Bible is talking about, is a tenth (10%) of the crop, of the new

27% figure - I would think church upkeep, minister's salary, various

costs would vary from church to church. Perhaps what you read, was saying

27% of what they got. Even so, I still think it would differ from place

to place.

But for those who don't understand tithing - it's supposed to be 10% of

what you get. Not what you have.........

But what if we've already given 50% of all we get and all we do to the gvt?

Sure Caesar and all that - but is it pre or post tax that this is estimated on?
