Dear Marg,

I'm so sorry. First of all, the Ramazzini Studies confirmed aspartame to be a multipotential carcinogenic causing lymphoma, leukemia, etc. The second study which was reported in 2007 showed that it only took a small amount to cause cancer, and if a woman uses it during pregnancy and the baby survives the child can grow up and get cancer.

Secondly, aspartame does trigger so many of these problems and they are all listed in the medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, www.sunsentpress.com by H. J. Roberts, M.D. Dr. Roberts is a diabetic specialist. Yes, aspartame triggers hypoglycemia. It can precipitate diabetes, simulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy and destroys the optic nerve. It causes diabetics to go into convulsions and yes it interacts with insulin! He didn't have a chance. Aspartame interacts with virtually all drugs and vaccines because it damages the mitochondria or life of the cell.

Here is an article by Dr. Walton on psychiatric problems and you notice he too says that he feels that aspartame is the major factor in the worldwide epidemic of diabetes and obesity: http://www.mpwhi.com/aspartame_and_psychiatric_disorders.htm I believe it too and other experts write about it as well. You will also be interested in Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D, www.russellblaylockmd.com His book Health & Nutrition Secrets To Save Your Life, also has a lot on this subject.

I'm so glad you sent away for Sweet Misery as this will explain how this deadly addictive excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug got on the market through the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld. It was approved not by science but by politics. The FDA even wanted to have the company indicted for fraud but unfortunately both US Prosecutors hired on with the defense team and the statute of limitations expired.

In the Journal of the Diabetic Association of India you will note Dr. Barua said that researchers at Wayne State University School of Medicine who studied the effects of aspartame on normal and diabetic rats found that aspartame may adversely affect the capacity to control glucose metabolism in the already compromised diabetic. Here is the entire report: http://www.dorway.com/barua.html

In 2004 the American Diabetes Assn had a racketeering suit filed against them for pushing aspartame. Dr. Roberts was a member for 35 years so they know. In fact, they went so far as to refuse to publish his abstract on aspartame diabetic reactors because they take money from industry. They can't take money from the manufacturer and warn the public off their poison so they sacrifice the diabetics. Then what you see are articles like this:< http://www.lightbulbwebsites.com/web-design/397> http://www.lightbulbwebsites.com/web-design/397 Even though the American Diabetes Assn got out of the suit they continue to push this poison on diabetics knowing it can take their life. Listen to Lane Shore's story whose wife is diabetic: http://www.mpwhi.com/lane_shore_all_jacked_up.htm

Here is Dr Roberts position paper on aspartame and hypoglycemia and diabetes: http://www.dorway.com/betty/diabetes.txt

One of the reasons aspartame triggers obesity is that it makes you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight. Also, read Dr. Walton's paper on depression and obesity: http://www.dorway.com/walton2.txt

Also, read this transcript of a radio interview with Dr. Blaylock and his comments on hypoglycemia. http://www.dorway.com/blayinv.html

I'm impressed with your experiment. I'm also impressed with the fact you completed courses in human biology and chemistry to understand medical terminology.

Last summer I lectured in New Zealand when Abby Cormack almost died from aspartame Wrigley's gum. She will contact you when she gets the note. She has helped so much in New Zealand and I believe you can make a difference in Australia. Incidentally, Dr. Sandra Cabot, is Mission Possible Australia and there are two or three other MP operations there who will probably also contact you when they receive this.

Would you like for me to add you to the Mission Possible list so you can keep up-to-date?

Also, there is something safe for diabetics called Just Like Sugar and it has now been approved in Australia. You can also get it on line at www.justlikesugarinc.com It's made of chicory which has been used for 70 years to improve the health of diabetics, and orange peel, as well as Vitamin C and Calcium.

Yes, I know about diet drinks being replaced in schools, and there are currently efforts in New Zealand to do something about this: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/GE0803/S00049.htm One thing you can do in Australia is get the schools our Report For Schools, articles by the experts on how aspartame destroys the brains of our children: http://www.mpwhi.com/report_on_aspartame_and_children.htm

I think I've answered most of your questions and in the medical text there so many cases from Dr. Roberts regarding diabetes. Also, if you read this report about a diabetic study being halted it also will answer many questions. http://www.mpwhi.com/diabetic_studies_halted.htm

We have lots of people on our lists from Australia. It's time to really make some efforts there to remove it. It's after 3:00 AM in America so first read some of these reports and we can write again later today.

He was a heavy aspartame user most of his life. His medical history included - Non Hodgkins lymphoma, gout, Aortic valve replacement, splenectomy, Hodgkins disease, hematuria, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, partial gastrectomy, fluid retention etc. A couple of months before his death he was admitted to hospital with severe hyperglycemia and was diagnosed with diabetes and prescribed insulin and sent home after a few days. Prior to the hyperglycemic incident he had suffered extreme edema for 6 months and was eventually prescribed high doses of prednisolone, cycloblastin and frusomide, these drugs were in conjunction with his other medications for the above conditions. He returned to hospital after 3 weeks as he was feeling very ill. On arrival at the hospital his blood glucose was tested and was satisfactory at 5+. Whilst waiting to see the doctor he became thirsty and my sister bought him a can of diet solo of which he drank less than a quarter of the can. Within 15 minutes he began to perspire profusely, shaking, very pale and weak. A blood glucose reading recorded 3.0, a huge drop on the 5+ on admission half an hour prior. The nurse immediately gave him orange juice and sugar to restore the blood glucose. Doctor's were puzzled by his complex condition and no one seemed able to help him. He never came out of hospital. I kept having recurring visions of the can of diet solo and the subsequent drop in blood glucose. Did the diet drink cause an insulin spike or did it somehow remove the existing glucose from his blood? I started to do a little research on aspartame and read many articles. I became a fan of yours. I sent away for a copy of 'Sweet Misery a poisoned world'. To understand some of the medical terminology of the articles I was reading, I completed basic courses in human biology and chemistry. I very rarely drink diet drinks but felt I needed to know if aspartame interacted with insulin. I conducted a few experiments with blood glucose and Aspartame drinks and was amazed to find that my blood glucose dropped within 5 - 15 minutes of ingestion. The drop was more pronounced on an empty stomach. I felt slightly giddy on a couple of occasions, and although I didn't think to weigh myself prior to the experiment I felt that my weight may have increased from physical observation. Only small quantities of the drinks were needed to cause the drop in blood sugar. After 40 minutes or so the blood glucose returned to normal or slightly elevated from baseline. Obviously glucose was released from the liver into blood to top up the supply. Betty, is it feasible to suggest that the current obesity and diabetic epidemic in the world may be caused by aspartame, due to the constant secretion of insulin and glucagon causing pancreatic disfunction? Do you know if there have been any clinical trials conducted in your country or elsewhere? Are there any accessible databases listing diet patterns for diabetics and those with pre-diabetes? Recently in Australia, sugar soft drinks have actually been replaced in many school canteens with diet drinks, which is very alarming. I feel compelled to do something but I am not sure where to begin. Bearing in mind that I have no scientific or medical credentials, any ideas or advice would be welcomed. Cheers for now Margaret Dr. Betty Martini,D.Hum. [bettym19] Tuesday, 25 March 2008 2:23 AM marg_english Re: FW: aspartame concerns down under Yes, the mindspring email is correct.
