Guest guest
hello all, i'm asking for a friend who gets freezing hands and fingers. she sports several times per week, eats so so healthy, good shape, very lean. she gets these cold hands when she, for instance, rides her bicycle home, numb fingers, white fingertips. takes forever to warm them up, this also happens at home, just weird cold hands. she says that she doesn't know when it started, she said, i think it was there all my life. she first thought it might had something to do with when she smoked siggies, but she stopped smoking 10 years ago. do you guys have any advice/information i could give her? thank you, rik
Guest guest
I am no expert by any means but my mother and I both suffer from similar things. My mother has reynauds syndrome (SP I am sure) Maybe she should research that out. Hope all goes well Yvette --- Rik <bliksemskater wrote: > hello all, > i'm asking for a friend who gets freezing hands and > fingers. she > sports several times per week, eats so so healthy, > good shape, very > lean. she gets these cold hands when she, for > instance, rides her > bicycle home, numb fingers, white fingertips. takes > forever to warm > them up, this also happens at home, just weird cold > hands. she says > that she doesn't know when it started, she said, i > think it was there > all my life. she first thought it might had > something to do with when > she smoked siggies, but she stopped smoking 10 years > ago. do you guys > have any advice/information i could give her? thank > you, rik > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Rik, Sounds like your friend is suffering from what's known as Raynaud's syndrome. You might want to look that up. Very little is known about it, but it can be an indicator of other autoimmune conditions. I'm not aware of any alternative treatments that address this particular syndrome outside of a holistic approach to the whole person. I would love to hear what other people have to say, as my partner also suffers from this.Salud,Si
Guest guest
Raynaud is actually a spin off (from my understanding) of scleroderma. My mom also was diagnosed with a form of lupus, ( debilitating but not life threatening) which is also hereditary. I choose not to get diagnosed. I know I have a few problems that are genetic why push those buttons too!!! I don't think there is any specific treatment for Raynauds. Mom takes cayenne for better circulation and wears gloves. Have a good one --- Si Thacker <thackersi wrote: > Hi Rik, > Sounds like your friend is suffering from what's > known as Raynaud's syndrome. You might want to look > that up. Guest guest
I've read that is a symptom of a low thyroid. Check out "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" (book) under hypothyroid, or a search on the internet. Bloodwork does not always show there is a thyroid problem, and will show in range; yet there is a problem. Guest guest
I have a book ‘The Green Pharmacy’ by James A Duke…and just fyi it has some info on Raynaud’s Disease: Its late, but let me know if you are interested in more info…it does suggest the following: Evening Primrose – contains gammalinolenic acid (GLA), used in its oil form as a massage on hands Garlic (of course J ) – to help improve circulation – taken internally Ginko – something about claudication? I believe it improves the circulation (sorry for my lack of knowledge on this) but it recommends pills or capsules of standardized extract, not tea Borage – contains GLA – I am assuming used in a similar way to Evening Primrose Ginger – lowers blood pressure/cholesterol levels helping to normalize blood flow – common sense tells me it is taken internally, but the book does not actually state it Mustard (as a plaster) – increasing blood supply to the area applied Red Pepper (as stated below) – mixed w/ oil and rubbing it in Indian snakeroot – contains reserpine which opens or dialates the blood vessels – taken internally I am assuming There is clearer information in the book, maybe you can find it in the library, or I can share more later if anyone is interested But even if it is not Raynaud’s Disease, it sounds like some of the info above would help anything being caused by circulatory issues…just my 2 cents…well actually Duke’s 2 cents..but I thought I would share…I am pretty new to most of this, but from my understanding Duke seems to be well known in herbalism… Georgia Regarding: Raynaud is actually a spin off (from my understanding) of scleroderma. Guest guest
hi si, thanks! raynaud's syndrome was the first thing i mentioned to her, but i'm not a doctor, just a wild guess really. i'm not sure if certain herbs, other methods are useful to open up the bloodflow, if that is the case. i was thinking of cayenne and ginger........ maybe some of you can advice me more about this. btw, she doesn't have a clue about natural healing, i'm trying to make her understand some things i'm interested in. i'm doing this for her to help her out, but also to learn from your information and these discussions. thanks for the post, love, rik > Hi Rik, > Sounds like your friend is suffering from what's known as Raynaud's syndrome.
