Guest guest
Tori, I know cooked garlic has a lot of benefits, but don't know if it is equal to raw. Get it to them any way you can! :0) Tomatoes help cut the taste. Try sliced or minced in sandwiches and in spaghetti sauce. VickiTori <tori_1138 wrote: Here's my question about garlic. I have been juicing and adding 2 cloves of garlic to each of my 2 cups of veggie juice I drink daily and so far it works well for me. My sons and hubby however hate the heat and intensity of the fresh garlic in the juice. Is garlic still as effective mixed with foods or just chopped and taken down with water? Does heating the garlic make it less effective? Are there types of garlic that are less intense tasting but still good for health? And finally, they sell pre-minced garlic in my market(fresh in a jar) is that stuff any good or should I stick with buying the bulbs? Thanks and sorry I'm asking so many questions!Tori Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail Beta. Guest guest
Tori- Great Question!! Raw organic garlic is the best. I advise people to take this the following way and it seems to be tolerable and very effective. Chop up 6-10 cloves of garlic. Put in a bowl or cup. Add a little bit of fresh olive oil, enough to coat the garlic. Spoon the garlic into your mouth and swallow with water. Do not chew the garlic.... This will minimize the smell from the garlic in your mouth. The stink from garlic happens when it reacts with toxins.... When I studied with Doc, he gave me this equation. Garlic + Toxin = Stink I hope this info was helpful. Let me know how it goes!! Guest guest
Wow, that's a lot more garlic than I've been ingesting! I notice with the garlic juice it will make me flush right after drinking it with the juice but only lasts a short time so it is tolerable. I may try the chopped fresh garlic and will certainly coax my sons and hubby to take it the way you described. I appreciate your help! Guest guest
Rob, Thank you so much for the Garlic Cleanse recipe. I'm very interested in starting this but, I have two questions before I can start and they are: How may times a day do I have to take garlic-olive oil and how long do I have to stay on the garlic cleanse? Guest guest
Hi Rachel- I wouldn't necessarily call it a garlic cleanse, but that is interesting that you called it this because if you do the garlic 1-3 times a day I guess you could call it a mini-garlic cleanse..... so you made up some new terminology....cool!! Garlic is probably the simplest and most effective non-emergency herb that exists.... It is a great detoxifier, cleanser, aids digestion and bowel movements, fights bacteria, fungus and virus, etc... bottom line it is really great and is nicknamed "The Russian Penicillin". So to answer your question, I would do it 2-3 times day for an effective "cleanse".... But for the first week I would do it once a day, at night, to get your body started on this. It is a powerful detoxifier and cause typical detox symptoms, like headache, flu like symptoms, aches and pains, etc... it really works to move things out of your body.... Now you should be doing other simple things to aid your body while doing this.... -- Lots and lots of fresh spring water (at least 100oz / day) -- 30 minutes light exercise 1-2 times/day -- hot/cold showers -- lots of fresh fruits and veggies and juicing them if possible All of these things help to move toxins out of your body and reduce detox symptoms..... As for a time length, it is safe to do for an extended period of time.... I would say 2 weeks for the 2-3 times a day portion should give your body some nice effects from the garlic cleanse... Guest guest
I have tried to do this several times in the past, but I always choke on the garlic cloves - I've tried cutting them up into smaller pieces but I still choke. Any suggestions for this?Tammi U.
Guest guest
Tammi- Try chopping it up as small as you can. Then use a spoon, put it in your mouth and swallow with lots of water.... Also you may have to do less per spoonful.... I have choked on it a couple of times myself, but I just cut it up smaller the next time and use less per spoonful... Let us know how it goes.... Guest guest
Use one of those garlic presses you squeeze with your hand, then pour a little olive oil over it. Guest guest
The russians have a tonic. They fill a bottle with garic cloves and fill the bottle with vodka and let it sit of a few months. They then take a shot a day.Rob Combis <rcombis wrote: Hi Rachel- I wouldn't necessarily call it a garlic cleanse, but that is interesting that you called it this because if you do the garlic 1-3 times a day I guess you could call it a mini-garlic cleanse..... so you made up some new terminology....cool!!
