Guest guest
After making my most recent batch of total tonic, I wondered if there was a way to simplify this at all. Is it necessary to peel all the garlic cloves? (That is my big time consumer.) It sure would be quick & simple if I could chuck the cloves in the blender with the peels on! Also, has anyone ever used black walnut hulls when making it at home? how do you go about it? A friend has a black walnut tree, so if I knew what to do I could get them for free. Thanks! Guest guest
We used to collect them in a burlap sack, put them on the drive way, then run over them several times with the pickup. Works pretty good. Guest guest
Dear Tyrie, Good to hear from you hon. There is no need to peel the cloves if you don't want to as you'll be straining the mixture through a cloth to get the final TT tincture. As far as the Black Walnuts Hulls are concerned, you want to collect the hull immediately after they fall on the ground. Store them in a cool dry place until they turn completely black and hard. Then break 'em up and powder them. You should then make a tinture out of them using alcohol and then add to the rest of the TT mixture. You can also take it separately from the rest of the TT which is made in ACV, if you prefer this approach.
